Over the years, ONYX has been involved in numerous enhancements to the historic Washington Park, with its most recent contribution being the establishment of a new community house.
The Community House features a multi-purpose room, kitchenette, gender-neutral restroom, storage room, accessible office for recreation staff, public Wi-Fi, and shaded outdoor gathering space.
In addition, new outdoor restrooms have been added to the park.
Previous improvements include installation of ramadas for the picnic area and updated information displays.
Careful grading preserved the historic river rock walls, while providing alternate paths for accessibility.
ONYX originally worked with the City of Pasadena, Friends of Washington Park, and the Theodore Payne Foundation in the early 2000’s to implement an updated master plan.
The church's facilities, which were constructed in the early 1970s, no longer met the needs of the congregation.
